Greetings fellow testers and developers,
Nordic Testing Days, to be held June 5-7 in Tallinn, Estonia, will feature presentations, tutorials and workshops that focus on collaboration, synergy and learning. This year’s theme is “Testers & Developers – Partners in Quality”. Estonian Testing Board is hereby glad to reveal some of the first presenters and tutorials, which will hopefully compel testers and developers alike.
Interesting Tutorials by Noted Speakers
“Test Manager Dashboards”
Lloyd Roden aims his tutorial to improve participants test reporting skills. The tutorial will demonstrate test monitoring techniques and show how to tailor test managers dashboard to the recipient’s needs. Rodens tutorial will help making test reports more concise, more accurate and relevant to the people receiving them.
• Lloyd Roden has 28 years of experience in the software industry.
• Has worked as a developer, test analyst, test manager and a consultant.
• Is a distinguished speaker and won the European Testing Excellence award in 2004.
“Transition: From a traditional into an Agile tester”
Alon Linetzki will discuss the challenges of moving software development into the Agile model from traditional models, focusing on the testing activities and processes. The tutorial will help understand what is needed for an effective, smooth and value adding change.
• Alon Linetzki is an expert test engineer, testing coach and consultant with over 18 years in testing and over 28 years in IT.
• He is the author of multiple testing courses and has coached more than 1000 professionals in more than 20 companies.
• Co-founder of the Israeli Testing Certification Board and the founder and chair of SIGiST Israel.
“Solving Testing Challenges for Mobile Apps”
Julian Harty will lead the way discussing mobile applications testing. His tutorial gives practical and theoretical information on the topic as well as hands-on experience. All participants are invited to bring their own mobile phones, applications and their questions to this tutorial.
• Julian Harty has been working in IT since 1980 and was “tester At Large” at eBay and the first foreign test engineer at Google.
• Works on open source mobile apps and test automation projects.
• ontributes to various books on test automation, developing & testing mobile apps etc.
Call for Papers
Nordic Testing Days 2013 is still open for your contributions, as we have extended the submission deadline. We expect developers, analysts, user experience experts and others involved in software development to partner-up and share their experience as well as learn from one another.
How to achieve working partnership between disciplines? How to explain quality to each other? What is helping and what is not? How to become really Partners in Quality?
Submit your paper if you have experience in those topics or in any other that relates to the theme: “Testers & Developers - Partners in Quality”.
Teach a tutorial, present a track or do a workshop on your experience of making the relationship between testers and developers more synergized.
Practical Information
You can apply to lead four types of events:
• Tutorial – Full or half day teaching or sharing an experience in detail
• Track – Talk on topics mentioned below – 45 minutes in length
• Workshop – Hands-on event working with a tool or method – 90 minutes in length. You can also have a peer-to-peer discussion within this session discussing a problem or an idea with your peers
•Organizers will provide accommodation for presenters from outside Estonia, Harjumaa area
Important Dates to remember and follow:
1st of March, 2013 – Submission deadline for papers
18th of March, 2013 – Information about acceptance to the conference
10th of May, 2013 - Submission deadline for final presentations
5th-7th of June, 2013 – Nordic Testing Days conference in Tallinn, Estonia.
